Ye jo desh hai tera....

I am away from homeland. I carried my walkman with me. I bought this on the day of my Birthday (the first one after I started earning). The walkman is very dear to me. I don't know what made me not to carry many cassettes with me. .. just have a few with me.......my most favourite ones.. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, MLTR, Swades... that song.. 'Ye jo Desh Hai Tera'.....is awesome.
We had gone out on a small picnic near to Bangalore....Swades was played over and over again and it made me like the songs more and more.
Perfect blend....nice catchy tune in Yuni Chala chal, soft romantic number Dekho na and 'Ye jo desh hai tera' brings that feeling in u which can't be explained.. Nice album!

(Ye jo des hai tera, swades hai tera, tujhe hai pukaara…
Ye woh bandhan hai jo kabhi toot nahin sakta) -2
Mitti ki jo khushboo, tu kaise bhoolaayega
Tu chaahe kahin jaaye, tu laut ke aayega
Nayi nayi raahon mein, dabi dabi aahon mein
Khoye khoye dilse tere, koyi ye kahega
Ye jo des hai tera, swades hai tera, tujhe hai pukaara
Ye woh bandhan hai jo kabhi toot nahin sakta

(Hmm…hmm…hmm…hmm…hmm…)
Tujhse zindagi, hai ye keh rahi
Sab toh paa liya, ab hai kya kami
Yun toh saare sukh hai barse
Par door tu hai apne gharse
Aa laut chal tu ab diwaane
Jahaan koyi toh tujhe apna maane
Awaaz de tujhe bulaane, wahi des
Ye jo des hai tera, swades hai tera, tujhe hai pukaara
Ye woh bandhan hai jo kabhi toot nahin sakta

(Hmm…hmm…hmm…hmm…hmm…)
Ye pal hai wahi, jis mein hai chhupi
Koyi ek sadi, saari zindagi
Tu na poochh raaste mein kaahe
Aaye hain is tarha do raahein
Tu hi toh hai raah jo sujhaaye
Tu hi toh hai ab jo ye bataaye
Chaahe toh kis disha mein jaaye wahi des
Ye jo des hai tera, swades hai tera, tujhe hai pukaara
Ye woh bandhan hai jo kabhi toot nahin sakta
Hmm…hmm…hmm…

Yes! The tracks in swades are Cool.! I wonder how Rahman manages to give a hit every time!
You know what, its not just the lyrics..its his voice and the music which makes "Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera!" the way it is!

Have you heard "yeh tara Woh Tara"...I love the voice of Vignesh in that! Its a voice of say around a 12yr Old boy! Its so naturally recorded!!

"Mitti ki jo khushboo, tu kaise bhoolaayega"
This is sooooo true. It rains almost every day In UK. But I have never felt the "mitti's Khusboo" here. I still can remember that "scent of the Mud" when it rains in India!

There are so many such haunting and lilting tunes related to the motherland.. the song from Cabulliwalah "E mere pyaare watan, E mere bichde chaman.. tujh pe dil kurbaan", and song from Sikander-E-Azam "jahaan daal daal par sone ki chidiya karti hai basera" and ofcourse the marvellous "chitti aayi hai" and so on and so forth!! They do really pull on the hearts strings!
